Happy Sinterklaas iedereen in Nederland

...I'm a day late and David says you don't say "happy sinterklaas" (Lisanne, what do you say to someone on Dec. 5th cause your brother doesn't know)....

Decemeber 5th is St. Nicholas Day, or Sinterklaas as it's called in Holland. Sinterklaas comes to your house on a white horse to leave a present in your shoe. You exchange gifts and there has to be a poem with the gift. You also get your initial in chocolate.
Thankfully, I (the only non-Dutch member of the house) remembered it was Dec. 5th and left out carrots for Sinterklaas' horse. He must have heard there were 2 Nederlanders living here cause he showed up and left presents and poems for David and Stella. I guess he didn't want the chocholate to melt on the long ride so he used Stella's foam block letters. How resourceful of Sinterklaas!
Here's papa reading Stella her poem:

Dear kleine Stella, it's your first December fifth

as a little Dutch girl you should know about this

It's the day that Sinterklaas visits your home

and brings a present for you, with a little poem

You put carrots at the door, for his white horse

He'll leave a gift because you're a good girl (of course!)

How will you know that this gift is for you?

You will find it sitting in your very own shoe.

We hope Sinterklaas brings you something you'll enjoy.

Have lots of fun playing with your brand new...

Sorry for the late reaction, I didnt understand how to log in any more (c'est en francais?)
But this so sweet! Did Sinterklaas leave you anything?? (because, here in Paris there was also only a present for my dad... :(
I have been thinking for a long time but I think I have to agree with David; there is not such thing as happy Sinterklaas. It is just: 'jeeej! Today it is Sinterklaas!' Stupid I know, because IT cant BE sinterklaas, but whatever..
I just bought Stella the cutest jacket in the world. But she is so big already, do you think she will fit in size 12 till 18 months in january? Because I thought, maybe its better to buy one in size 18 - 24 months? Or does she look so much bigger at pictures dan RL?
Grosses bisous pour vous et see ya soon!! XXX lies

Lisanne,
12-18 months should be perfect. Yeah, for some reason she always looks bigger in the pictures than in real life. You'll probably think she's gigantic compared to last time you saw her but she's just getting into 9 month clothing now so 12-18 mos. should be perfect for the rest of the winter.
By the way, what are you doing after you leave NY? Can't you change your ticket and stay a little longer?
